EFKO together with Rusbase announces the start of registration for the third international conference Deep Food Tech 2024. Its key theme is Food as Medicine.

More than a billion people worldwide struggle with obesity. Over the past 30 years, the number of adults with this diagnosis has doubled; the occurence in children has quadrupled.

All human organ systems are adversely affected by obesity and other side effects of a typical modern metropolitan lifestyle. These conditions also raise the possibility of type 2 diabetes, cancer, mental health issues, and some other abnormalities that may decrease life expectancy.

At the state level, the obesity pandemic is already having another effect. According to a report by the World Economic Forum and Harvard University cited by Reuters, treating overweight and obesity and the non-communicable diseases associated with it will cost the globe over $30 trillion during the period 2010—2030.

Experts agree that expanding access to healthful food options is essential for effective combating obesity. And to achieve this, the contemporary agro-industrial complex — and the food business in particular — needs to adjust to the realities of today. Deep Food Tech Conference 2024 will discuss what has already been done in this regard.
