Vladimir Putin Opened a New EFKO Plant for Production of Functional Proteins and Dietary Fiber 5 March 2024
The launch of the Food of the Future plant in Alekseyevka

The Russian President participated in the opening of a new EFKO plant via videoconferencing.

The company's main products will be soy isolates and concentrates, as well as vegetable fiber. They are intended for use in the meat processing, bakery, and confectionery industries. These ingredients also form the basis of dietary and sports nutrition.

Vyacheslav Gladkov, the Governor of the Belgorod Region, emphasized that the opening of the factory is a continuation of the traditions that originated in Alekseyevka almost 200 years ago. To illustrate the continuity, he even showed the President an original oil press of peasant Daniil Bokarev, the founder of industrial sunflower oil production: “What we showed the President is essentially in one-second 200-year evolution. The opening of the soy deep processing plant in Alekseyevka is a continuation of the tradition. It was on Belgorod land that we figured out how to churn butter and developed the oil-and-fat industry. Today, from each such small grain, literally every molecule is transformed into a product and sold as a highly liquid commodity, allowing us to confidently look to the future.”

Vyacheslav Gladkov,
the Governor of the Belgorod Region
“It is especially important for us as a border region today to maintain a course for the development of our industries and the creation of new jobs. We want our enterprises not just to keep their jobs, but to grow and expand. The new EFKO plant is not only import substitution and substantial tax deductions to the regional budget but also more than 130 additional jobs. And our company does not stop there. Supported by the Government and the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, EFKO is preparing to build a plant for the production of enzymes shortly. I am sure that with this approach, the company will achieve the highest results. I thank Valery Kustov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of EFKO, and the entire staff for their immense contribution to the development of our region.”

Evgeniy Lyashenko,
EFKO Director General
“The first stage of our plant will produce about 5 thousand tons of product per year. Currently, functional proteins and dietary fibers are mainly imported from other countries. Today, the bulk of these ingredients are imported from abroad. But we are confident that within a few years, we will be able to push foreign players out of the domestic market because our product is superior. It's organic and non-GMO. The production technology is unique and has been developed by specialists from our innovation center in collaboration with Russian scientists. The production lines were also designed by our company's engineers.”
